There is support across the community for expanding modern methods of construction as part of the response to Australia's housing crisis.
Support grows when people have access to more information about modern methods of construction, with support growing from 89% to 96% at our AMPLIFICATION.
There are important lessons we can learn here: support can grow when people are given the time, resources and space to deliberate.

We need to seed the pipeline to provide the industry the confidence to scale. We need to modernise regulations to support new ways of building while protecting the safety and financial risks to consumers. We need to mobilise skills by improving training pathways to support new ways of delivery.

- Apply strategic procurement principles, such as developing a catalogue of modern housing types which have pre-approval.
- Innovate with and showcase quality prototypes.
- Use government procurement to guarantee steady demand, giving housing manufacturers certainty so they can invest in modern construction capabilities.
Modernise regulations
What we need to do:
- Define modern construction consistently across all planning and building regulation.
- Streamline planning, building and consumer protections to achieve regulatory neutrality.
- Streamline certification and compliance pathways for modern construction.
Mobilise skills
What we need to do:
- Roll out micro credentials for modern construction, allowing the existing workforce to expand their skills.
- Cross‑train traditional trades and off‑site manufacturing roles.
- Market the 'modern’ face of construction careers.
