Statement by AMPLIFY CEO Georgina Harrisson
Wednesday 6 May 2026 - Reforms that incentivise and drive increased uptake of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) are vital for lifting housing supply and diversifying housing options for Australians.
The introduction of new laws by the NSW Government that support MMC uptake through streamlining building approvals is nation leading and will help provide more new homes, more quickly.
AMPLIFY applauds the reforms proposed by the Minns government and encourages other states to follow its lead.
These are the types of smart, sensible reforms that are needed if we are to solve the housing crisis. Our research shows that Australians overwhelmingly support MMC, with 2 in 3 members of the community in favour. Our modelling demonstrates that reforms like these to unlock MMC could mean 192,000 more houses nationally over the next 20 years.
We’re in the midst of a national housing crisis and Australians are struggling with ballooning cost of living pressures. We need more houses faster and MMC provides a clear solution that can increase supply and bring down costs.
