The promise of affordable, secure housing for all Australians is broken. We embarked on an 18-month research program to discover what Australians really think about housing and to find common ground for bold reform.

The result? A community mandate built by more than 18,000 Australians.

The community mandate for reform is stronger and broader than we are led to believe.

Coalition voters and Labor voters, renters and landlords, first-home buyers and retirees — when properly engaged with the evidence support reform that is more ambitious than major parties have attempted.

Implemented properly, these reforms could deliver1,037,000new homes for Australians.

Building smarter and faster

Majority of Australians back utilising modern methods of construction like prefab construction to build more homes more efficiently. This means shifting some construction work offsite to factories where whole or part homes are manufactured quickly, safely and at scale.

More homes where people want to live

Majority of Australians back increasing housing density in our major cities, unlocking more housing in the places people want to live, near jobs, schools and transport. But a restrictive planning system pushes up the costs - both financial and social.
